Chef's knives are very common and an essential kitchen appliance. Chef's knife is also known as French knife. There are numerous uses of chef's knives such as-
- Chopping vegetables.
- Slicing.
- Mincing.
- Slicing meat.
- Disjointing large cuts of beef or ham.
- Create a fairly fine mince or dice
Chef's knives come in different sizes, length, design and rates. However these do the same work. The blades of chef's knives are of two types-
French blade- The design of French blade is triangular, that has much less curve at the tip and a section of blade is longer, it is designed to be pulled towards the users while slicing the food.
German blade – It has a pronounced curve towards the tip of the blade that allows the knife to be rocked up and down while chopping the food with the belly and heel of the blade. |
